#MemberMonday: Siouxland Human Investment Partnership (SHIP)

How many years has your business been in Siouxland? We have been in Siouxland for 20 years.

What services do you offer? We are a non-profit organization that administers state, federal and private funds that help to increase the quality of life for Siouxland children, families and citizens. We also have direct service programs such as Beyond the Bell, Sky Ranch Behavioral Services and BOOST, and we provide leadership in response to identified community needs, and organize collaboration to problem solve issues such as homelessness (Siouxland Street Project), illiteracy and low test scores in children (0-3: Prime Age to Engage) post-secondary attainment (Sioux City College Access Network) and much more.

How many years has your business been a member of the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce? We’ve been a member since 1998.

What do you enjoy most about being a Chamber member? SHIP wants to make Siouxland a better place to live, so being involved in the Chamber is a natural fit. The annual dinners are always attended by SHIP, and we are considering attending the annual Washington trip.

What is your favorite Chamber event/memory? The SHIP staff really enjoyed Alan Page as the speaker at the Chamber Annual Dinner.

What is a fun or surprising fact about your company/business? SHIP in general is a well-kept secret, but one of the services we offer is to be an employer of record and/or fiscal agent for other non-profits. In this capacity, SHIP functions as an “umbrella organization” and can take care of all of the HR payroll and other administrative functions so that organizations can focus their time on mission and programming.
