MidAmerican Energy Co. and the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce are teaming up in an effort to encourage Iowa homeowners to plant more trees.

MidAmerican Energy’s Plant Some Shade® residential tree-planting program enables residential customers LOGO Trees for Siouxland
to purchase up to two, 6 to 8 foot landscaping trees for $30 each.  Trees in the company’s Plant Some Shade program are sold only to residential customers who live in Iowa.  This year’s tree choices are the chinkapin oak, heritage oak, tulip tree, quaking aspen, star magnolia “Royal Star,” American linden, redbud, edible cherry “Meteor” and Norway spruce.

Trees must be pre-ordered and will only be available for pick up from 4 to 6 PM on Thursday, October 13, at Lewis and Clark Park (Sioux City Explorers), 3400 Line Drive.  To place an order for trees, contact the Chamber offices at 712.255.7903 or download the order form here.  For more information on trees contact Evan Miller, urban forestry program coordinator with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR), at 515.725.8455.
